SHEENA BUDDLE
FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR
Sheena’s teaching journey began in 1989 at Forres Preparatory School in Rondebosch. While raising her own young children, she opened and ran a playgroup in Noordhoek before returning to Forres in 1996. In January 2006, she followed her heart and founded Fledglings — a school built on love, nurture and the belief that every child should be given the chance to grow at their own pace.
Today, Sheena continues to lead with wisdom and vision, ensuring that Fledglings remains true to its founding values and continues to be a place where children feel seen, supported, and inspired. She guides and inspires the school with deep care and pride, supported by the incredible team she has so lovingly built.
JACQUI BLOOMER
PRINCIPAL AND TEACHER
With a Bachelor of Arts and a Higher Diploma in Primary Education, and many years of teaching experience in both pre-schools and primary schools across South Africa and Botswana, Mrs Jacqui Bloomer is deeply committed to nurturing well-rounded learners. She places a strong emphasis on developing solid literacy and mathematics skills, while also fostering broad general knowledge and physical development. Through her work in multicultural, multilingual, and mixed-ability environments, Mrs Bloomer has gained valuable insights into how children learn best. Her goal is to create an inclusive, stimulating space where every child can thrive and confidently transition to primary school.
ADINA DUMINY
TEACHER
Mrs Adina Duminy is a dedicated preschool teacher with a deep passion for early childhood education. A proud mom to a lively 7-year-old, she understands first-hand the joys and challenges of parenthood, which help her connect meaningfully with both children and families. Since 2008, Mrs Duminy has been working in the preschool environment, gaining valuable experience in various preschools across Cape Town. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Development and is committed to creating a warm, engaging and stimulating classroom, where every child feels safe and inspired to learn.
ANESU GWINDI
TEACHING ASSISTANT
Anesu is our assigned class assistant in the Bears class, but her support extends across the school whenever an extra pair of hands is needed. With a calm presence and a natural gift for working with young children, she plays an essential role in the daily life of Fledglings. She’s especially brilliant when it comes to potty training and brings patience, care and encouragement to each milestone moment. Anesu shares a deep bond with the children and has a special way of making each one feel seen, safe, and loved.
In addition to her classroom role, Anesu helps keep the school neat, clean and running smoothly. Anesu holds an Early Childhood Development certificate and is a qualified first aider, adding an extra layer of care and reassurance for our Fledglings families.
INGE SCHULENBURG
SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST
Inge qualified as a Speech/Language Therapist and Audiologist in 1993 with a BSc Logopedics degree from UCT. She completed her Master’s in Clinical Linguistics at Stellenbosch University a few years later, while working at Vista Nova School.
Inge considers it fortunate that she has the opportunity to work with children of all ages who have language, articulation, fluency, speaking, reading, and writing difficulties.
